Types of Quarter-Turn Latch
Choosing a type of quarter-turn lock or latch typically depends on the application, the level of security needed and any compression requirements. For specialist access or higher security cabinets and equipment, cam latches can be tool-operated utilising specific double bit or shaped inserts, or additionally key or padlock-operated. If security is not needed, standard cam latches with various grip handles are sufficient.
For applications that require compression to effectively seal from moisture, dust or other contaminants, a clamping, also known as a compression latch, is ideal. These work by engaging a secondary linear motion when the handle is rotated, which pulls the panel or door tight to the frame, sealing it effectively.
Quarter-turn latches and locks also come in different materials to meet functionality and environmental conditions. Zinc and polyamide are commonplace, as well as stainless steel options for external applications and sterile environments.

Quarter-Turn Latch Options
Cam Latches
Cam latches are cost-effective and versatile components. They feature a rotating quarter-turn arm which is operated by an outer handle. Commonly used for non-locking cabinetry and electrical/industrial enclosures that do not require a high level of security.
Our Flexi-System Cam Latches feature fully interchangeable parts, allowing for a completely flexible hardware system. This includes multi-point latching systems.
Our Polyamide Flexi-System Cam Latch. An inexpensive alternative to stainless steel whilst providing corrosion resistance in applications exposed to water or solutions.
A Spring Loaded Cam provides depress-to-lock action with quarter-turn opening or closing. Available in right hand and left hand types. Cam grip length is fixed at 22mm.
Fully stainless steel Cam Latch for maximum strength and corrosion resistance. Available with square, triangle and double bit insert drivers.
Made to the high "3A" standard.
Hygienically designed for effective and easy cleaning, corrosion resistant, non-toxic.
Design precludes contamination by dirt, food particles and organic matter.
Black Plastic Wing Handle, with choice of finish on zinc body. Wing handle acts as handle and lock actuator.
Perfect when a standard cam offset is not enough. Fixed extended grip for when only one gripping distance is required.
Finger Handle Cam Latch. Locks with quarter-turn of the handle. Available with zinc or plastic handle.
Star Grip Handle version of our cam latch, available in zinc or polyamide. Suitable for panel thickness of 1-6mm.
Padlock Wing Handle Locks with quarter-turn. Design accommodates two different padlock sizes. Black coated or Chrome finish.
Compression Latches
Ideal for reducing vibration and preventing dust, moisture or environmental contaminants from entering a cabinet or enclosure, compression latches operate on a dual function: one rotational movement to close the door, and another, linear movement to pull the cam tight against the frame. This creates an effective seal between the panel and frame. To meet the IP (ingress protection) standards of sealing, they are commonly used with a gasket.
Quarter turn to lock and a further quarter turn to compress or tighten. Adjustment easily made by moving the position of the nuts on the stud.
A mini compression lock popular in the food industry and kitchen ventilation and HVAC, or where space is at a premium. Available in chrome or black powder coated finish.
Compression locks provide sealing of enclosures to reduce vibration and to provide noise isolation.
Wing Handle for easy actuation. A turn of 270o turns the handle 90o then draws the cam upward, providing 7mm of compression.

Uses a screw effect to tighten the seal. The stud enters a fixed nut and pulls the frame toward the door as the key is turned. Available with option security cover.
Cam Locks
Similarly to cam latches, cam locks feature a rotating quarter-turn arm which secures the door or panel. The main difference is that cam locks are operated by a more traditional key, which when turned, controls a rotating cylinder to engage, or disengage the cam. Cam locks are ideal for cabinetry that requires a higher level of security, such as valuable retail displays, electrical enclosures and pharmaceutical storage.
T-Handle lock with fixed grip. In die-cast zinc and polyamide. WIth PU & rubber sealing washer. Available with two keys per lock. Order cam separately.
T-Handle lock with fixed grip. Black powder coated die-cast zinc. Fitted with O-ring to achieve IP54 rating. Order cam separately.
L-handle lock with fixed grip. In die-cast zinc and polyamide. Supplied with two keys. Order cam separately.
Padlockable, L-handle lock. Available in zinc or stainless steel. Fitted with O-ring to achieve IP54 rating. Order cam separately
Three fixed grip locks. Two of which are chrome plate or black powder coated die-cast zinc, one option in polyamide. Available with two keys per lock. Order cam separately.
Easy snap-on fix mounting. Chrome plated die-cast zinc cylinder lock, keyed alike, euro key. Order cam separately.
Fixed grip, flexi-system lock, with quarter-turn opening and closing. Available in chrome plated or black powder coated die-cast zinc. Fitted with O-ring to provide IP54 rating. Order cam separately.
Extending cam, fixed grip lock. Supplied with cam and two keys. Available in black painted die-cast zinc.
One-Touch Fasteners
One-touch fasteners are specialised, quick-release systems designed to lock and unlock components, panels, or machinery in a single action.
They are operated by either click, push, or quarter-turn, without the need for separate tools. Streamlining the assembly of interchangeable parts on machinery, they help reduce errors, save time, and offer consistent and repeatable performance across a variety of applications, such as production machinery.
Push button lock, recessed button. Suitable for panels of 6 to 10mm thickness. Recessed button handle means button is not exposed to accidental activation for added security.
T-Handle grip, quarter-turn lock. Suitable for panels 6 to 20mm thickness. Easy to read on/off position for increased security. Available in nickel plated steel, with black plastic knob.
Button handle with push button lock. For panels/enclosures of 3 to 10mm thickness. Tensile strength stated is for locked position. Stainless steel, with O-ring.
T-Handle grip, with quarter-turn lock. Available in nickel plated steel with black polyamide knob.
Locating bush and receiver, with safety release feature. Suitable for panels/enclosures of 6 to 32mm thickness. Used with 33930. Available in nickel plated steel.
With quarter-turn, plastic T-Handle grip. Suitable for panels/enclosures of 6 to 20mm thickness. Stainless steel and polyamide knob.
With low height, T-Handle grip; quarter-turn. Suitable for panels/enclosures of 6 to 20mm thickness. Available in stainless steel.
Quarter-turn, retractable shank, T-Handle grip in nickel plated steel. Black polyamide knob. Retractable shank offers the benefit of enabling panels to slide into position.
Locating bush for 33950. Stainless steel. Suitable for panels/enclosures of 2 to 6mm thickness.
Button handle with push button lock. Suitable for panels/enclosures of 3 to12mm thickness. Unique locking and simultaneous clamping.
Quarter-turn lock with T-Handle grip. Only suitable for straight linear movement of sliding bar and does not tolerate any other applied loads. Available in chrome plated die-cast zinc, with either black polyamide or stainless steel grip.
Quarter-turn lock with L-handle grip. It has teeth inside and it engages at every 7.2 degrees. Glass-fibre reinforced polyamide.
